       raised for his “graceful and attentive phrasing” by The Boston Musical Intelligencer, pianist Santiago Lomelin  has won the hearts of audiences around the world. He was the first Latino pianist to be admitted in the Horowitz Piano Competition in Kiev, Ukraine, where he won the third prize. In addition, he was a prize winner at the San Jose International Piano Competition in California, and Parnassos in Monterrey, Mexico. Santiago has performed as a soloist with Mexico’s leading orchestras, including the Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Yucatan, and Jalisco orchestras. Recent performances include Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco.

In addition to solo appearances, Santiago is a passionate collaborator. He performs frequently as part of the Althen-Lomelin Duo, with flutist and classical music social media influencer, Katie Althen. Most recently, the pair performed a sold-out recital at the PALCCO in Jalisco, México, benefiting the “Adopte una Obra de Arte” organization. Santiago is also a member of the New York City based Sonora Collective, a musicians collective that collaborates with contemporary artists to create vibrant performance experiences in special venues and installation spaces.

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Santiago earned his Bachelor of Music degree with academic honors from the New England Conservatory as a student of Victor Rosenbaum. He went on to earn his Master of Music degree and Professional Studies certificate with academic honors from the Mannes School of Music as a student of Pavlina Dokovska. At graduation, he was awarded the Steinway Award and the Marian Marcus Wahl Memorial Award. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studies with Vladimir Valjarević. Santiago is an enthusiastic and dedicated music teacher. He maintains an active private piano studio in New York City and teaches online piano lessons to students around the world. He is currently a faculty member at Special Music School, which is the only professional pre-conservatory school for gifted children in the USA, the Lucy Moses School for Music and Dance, and the Bronx School for Music.
